LIFE CHANGE STORIES

WOW Church has rocked my faith life!  I started attending the Backus Church of the Nazarene in 2013.  I wanted my kids to be raised in a Christian upbringing and, honestly, I was looking for more out of my life as well, so I started going to church.  I attended most Sundays. I started leading a children’s small group. I was writing a check each week.  I was doing what I thought a good Christian should do.  BUT, I felt like I was just going through the motions.  I wasn’t reading my bible.  I wasn’t spending enough time in prayer.  I didn’t have a strong relationship with Christ.  My bible was just sitting on my bookshelf.  After high school, it went to the U of M with me, but it stayed in a box in the garage.  When we moved into our home in 2006, it finally managed to find its way to a bookshelf, where it had sat for 10 years…  UNTIL, this crazy upbeat pastor arrived!  A pastor like I had never seen!  Where’s his suit and tie?  Isn’t he supposed to stand behind a podium?  Did he really just climb a ladder during his sermon?  Hmm… those are cool shoes.  Why am I not falling asleep during sermons?  WOW!   He spoke with power and deep conviction.  ‘the gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.’ (1 Thessalonian’s 1:5 New International Version).  I actually know bible verses now!!  I am excited to read my bible!  I pray!  I have a relationship with Christ!  I LOVE JESUS!  This pastor challenges everyone to grow in faith, just as he challenged me.  Thank you Pastor Bruce Rauma for ‘your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.’ (1 Thessalonians 1:3 New International Version).

Before, I was never comfortable at church.  People made me nervous.  I was content staying in the back room with the kiddos.  Pastor Bruce’s sermons challenged me.  They inspired me.  They motivated me.  Suddenly, God began working in me.  I know it’s because I told Him to go ahead and use me in a bigger way.  I said that I am willing and He responded, “Alright!  It’s about time.  You got it!”  I am finally stepping out of my comfort zone.  I’m so excited where God is taking WOW Church and I am thrilled to be a part of it!  We are growing in ways that I never imagined!  Thank you Pastor Bruce Rauma for ‘encouraging, comforting and urging us to live lives worthy of God, who calls us into his kingdom and glory.’ (1 Thessalonians 2:12 New International Version).  You lead in a way that makes me want more.  I want to read my bible more!  I want to pray more!  I just want more of Him in my life!  Thank you for challenging us and motivating us!  You rock and I am happy to call WOW Church my church family. – Gloria M.

I was at a place in my life where things were really hopeless.  I had a relationship with a person that I thought was the one.  After a long time of bad things he said and did to me I left him.  This just happened to me about a month ago.  I moved out and started renting an apartment from someone at a church.  I also work with some people who are less fortunate and they too attended the same church.  So, one day I decided to go.  I needed more and I knew it.  I needed Jesus.  I gave my life to him and said that my life was going to be different.  I walked into this church I'd been hearing about and I really love it.  There are a lot of things that can be distracting at any church but I love Jesus now and I really enjoy our pastors sermons.  There's life in the church, again.
